The Bookseller interviewed Richard Johnson, Chief Executive of Bonnier UK, about what to expect from the UK’s “fourth biggest publisher.”

Richard JohnsonThe Totally Entwined Group joined Bonnier Publishing at a very exciting time. Founded in Sweden, the Bonnier fiction division has gone from strength to strength over the years and it’s now time for the UK to join the excitement. With the innovative and highly ambitious Richard Johnson spearheading plans, we’re really looking forward to seeing what’s ahead for the Bonnier UK family.
In the Bookseller interview, Richard Johnson clarifies that Bonnier “is the UK’s fourth biggest publishing group, ahead of Pan Mac and only behind Penguin Random House, Hachette UK and HarperCollins.” As a result, Bonnier has become a key competitor against the Big Three, an exciting prospect for TEG staff and authors.
Richard goes on to describe how Bonnier UK is “not a traditional publisher, a ‘stuffy’ publisher, for want of a better word. We love to have fun, we love to be a bit cheeky, a bit rebellious.” It’s this kind of attitude that really made Bonnier stand out to TEG Directors Claire and Marek Siemaszkiewicz, who have always taken pride in the fast-paced, forward thinking approach of our business.

It seems that we’re not the only ones who have been blown away by the progress and drive of Richard Johnson and the Bonnier team, with Bookseller writer Benedict Page stating that it’s Bonnier’s “ambition above all that should make us sit up and take notice.”
